#BaltimoreTheatre - Online Edition 5/1

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander/Indigenous Heritage Month! We’ll be featuring events and features from AAPI Creatives in Baltimore & our sister organizations in DC.

Here's what's online this week:

AAPI Heritage Month Kick Off Town Hall w/ Regina Aquino

Friday, May 1st @ 8:30pm

Regina Aquino is developing a podcast that focuses on personal origin stories, familial mythology, and how ancestry informs storytelling in BIPOC artists. The first episode of the podcast will be a virtual town hall with actors, designers, producers, and writers of Asian American descent working in the DC area.I hope you'll join us as we explore our personal histories: how our families arrived in the DMV, our experiences as an Asian American in the area and in this particular profession, and how we're being affected by COVID-19. Performance Interface Lab

The goal of the Performance Interface Lab (PIL) is to reckon with the spatial, social, and creative limits being placed upon us right now and to recontextualize them as opportunities to adapt and renew the platform of theatre. This is a laboratory intended to explore that. The lab has produced a separate series of live, interactive, at-home, theatre-for-one pieces to be performed in 30 minutes or less for each added month of stay-at-home orders.

Out of Time (Thurs - Sundays, extended til May 3rd)

Crafted by Joan Cummins & Susan Stroupe

We thought we had come to the end.

But another path has been discovered.

We need you to craft the way outward from here, to navigate the journey, just like before.

Well, not quite like before, but we’re going to make do, right?

We need you, old friend.

One last time - what do you say?

Shattered Space

@ The Scattered Players

June 5th - 28th

Shattered Space is an online, fully interactive, three-dimensional show created & built by Chris Uehlinger & Matt Payne, with direction by Benjamin-Ernest Abraham & Lance Bankerd. After a major cataclysmic event, known as T h e S h a t t e r, inhabitants of a once closely knit two sun solar system are hurtled into space, unable to communicate or fly ships, and are isolated from one another. In this universe, audience members take on the role of the only pilots left in the universe, the Star Jockeys. Star Jockeys travel from planet to space station and to other celestial locations where they meet the location’s inhabitants and, hopefully, are able to offer some help. Missions will be approx. 45 mins long, available @ 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm each show date. There will be 30 pilots maximum per mission. Reserve your mission at https://shatteredspace.live/tickets
